Greek street artist Dimitris Trimintzios a.k.a. TAXIS will be placing a Museum Mural in Lelystad on behalf of Museum Batavialand.
TAXIS grew up in an artistic family and was introduced to the world of art early on. During a family holiday in Poland, TAXIS became familiar with the art of graffiti at the age of 14. His characteristic comic style is what has made him famous in the world of street art.
TAXIS’ point of reference is man himself. He is intrigued by the daily inner struggle that society imposes on every individual. In his art, he wants to capture the feelings of abandonment and hardship, feelings that have always tormented humanity. TAXIS aims to challenge the viewer to a conversation with themselves in which he or she can expand or deepen at their own discretion. His artworks are a game between the image and the viewer. The artist uses a wide variety of materials and techniques to challenge himself and to discover new possibilities.
Batavialand consists of a museum and a shipyard where you can experience unique old crafts. Opposite, on the water, is the reconstruction of the 17th-century ship the Batavia. Inside the museum you will discover the rich history of the Zuiderzee area: from the Swifterbant culture to the fascinating stories behind excavated shipwrecks. From the reclamation of the Zuiderzee to the arrival of pioneers to the newly constructed Flevoland.
